Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Michael “Mikey B” Brown developed a passion for radio as a child. After school, he’d play records on his father’s changer and dream of one day being on the air. That dream came true after his family migrated to Miami, Florida, in 1979. He built his name DJing house parties and nightclubs, eventually earning his FCC DJ license after joining WKAT 1360 AM.
After two years at WKAT, Mikey B transitioned to WAVS 1170 AM in 1989, where he continues to serve the community. Now, you can also catch him right here on Suga 95.7 FM, sharing his decades of experience, positive vibes, and deep love for Caribbean music with morning listeners across Southwest Florida.
