Born into an influential musical family, DJ Yanks was destined for greatness. His father, Beltone, was a well-known reggae DJ and record shop owner in his prime. Music runs deep in his bloodline—his uncles include the legendary Howard Barrett of The Paragons, and the iconic rhythm section of Bob Marley and the Wailers, “Family Man” Barrett (bass) and Carlton Barrett (drums).

DJ Yanks first touched the turntables at 16, experimenting with mixtapes and quickly earning a buzz for his raw talent and creativity. After high school, he moved from Connecticut to Atlanta and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Audio Production at the Art Institute. While in Atlanta, he made waves across Georgia’s vibrant nightlife and co-founded Carib Vibes Radio, an internet station that showcased Caribbean culture and music.

Now based in Southwest Florida, DJ Yanks serves as both on-air talent and Program Director at Suga 95.7 FM, curating one of the station’s hottest segments—Caribb Vibes Traffic at 6. With a mix of reggae, dancehall, Afrobeat, hip hop, R&B, and infectious global sounds, DJ Yanks sets the perfect tone to transition from work mode to party mode.

As a tour DJ, DJ Yanks has worked with some of the biggest names in Caribbean music, including Dovey Magnum, Rygin King, Shenseea, Ding Dong, Govana, Richie Stephens, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Beres Hammond, Sean Paul, Chuck Fender, Stonebwoy, and Mario Cheef. His talent has been showcased by top-tier companies like T-Mobile, BET, and Television Jamaica, and he’s taken his sound to global stages in Canada, Taiwan, Brazil, England, and Jamaica.

In 2022, DJ Yanks earned the prestigious Best Afro-Caribbean DJ of the Year award from the African Achievement Awards.

Through his brand Premiere Muzik, DJ Yanks continues to push boundaries, helping artists promote their singles and build their image while dropping mixtapes that uplift, inspire, and motivate. He’s also evolving his Caribb Vibes Show into one of the top Caribbean radio platforms in the region.
