“Take chances, make mistakes; that’s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.”
Mary Tyler Moore
Like a thief in the night, it comes and grabs your heart, tightens its grip on your soul and toys with your psyche. Fear is the messenger sent by pain to indulge you in tomfoolery as Mr. confidence abandons you.
Oh, how we fight to forget the pain, but it’s all to no avail, but it is even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.
Ever so often, we try not to feel, but it said that numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it. The deep crippling pain with unresolved emotions lashes you with a deafening silence that convinces you that you are lonely, and no one understands your pain. Your spirit rises at the prospect of that rainbow described by wellwishers, but then, the shadows of the evening replaces the rays of sunshine peeking between the beautiful green leaves.
As you struggle to exist, you stop feeling, and living becomes difficult as a part of you feels incomplete just as the shadows of the evening appears and disappears to make way for the beautiful sunshine. Life re-emerges, pushes forward just as a seedling pops its head out of the ground lifting its head to get the desired carbon dioxide and slowly lifts its face to grace the sun.
Sometimes we feel empty because we leave pieces of ourselves in everything we used to love. Tap into the power source that is available and continue to live as emptiness lingers at a stone throw away, waiting to claim its next victim. It is said that love can leave a memory that no one can steal, but love can also leave a pain that no one can heal, trust your heart to feel the former as opposed to the latter.
In the words of Marilyn Monroe, who said, “I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies, so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
Remember to live, breathe and appreciate your existence, love you for you, recognise your flaws and embrace them as a part of the imperfect perfection God created in you. Find the strength to grace the world with the beautiful smile that outshines the sun. Be the catalyst to awake the world that you can be bent but remain unbroken.
Stand tall in the strength of your ancestors who fought a raging war to be free, pull yourself from the emotional rut with the strength that lies within. Emerge from your cocoon of wounded emotions and spread your wings as a bright and spritely butterfly. Bring yourself to full bloom like petals that embrace the winds.
“Sometimes, it feels like there are many things in this world that we can’t control. Earthquakes, flood, reality shows, But it’s important to remember the things that we can- like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts Because the one thing that changes the world from a lonely place to a beautiful place is love. Love in any of its forms; love gives us hope.”
