Dancehall artist Sizzla Kalonji has teamed up with US-Based reggae band High Hopes to record a track called “Taken Souls”.
The six-member New England based band won the 2015 Best Band in State of Massachusetts award by the New England Music Awards. They’ve also provided direct tour support to reggae stars such as Ziggy Marley, Easy Star All-Stars, and Maxi Priest.
High Hopes has been working on the completion of their full-length album, which will be dropping this year.
“We were completing the album when this opportunity came up to work with Sizzla. It was an honour to work with him. It was some really good vibes at Judgement Yard, and we came out with something really good; everyone in the reggae community in Boston is excited about it,” said Bass Player Julie Feola via the Jamaican Star.
Sizzla has been an active part of reggae and dancehall since the ‘90s. The Jamaican musician was nominated for a Grammy due to his 2013 album, “The Messiah”.
The song will be released on the Platinum Camp label later this month on all digital music platforms. There are also plans to film a music video for “Taken Souls” following release of the collaboration.
