Migos is slated to assist in Season 2 of Chinese originated reality show “The Rap of China” as producers. The internet based reality show will broadcast on iQuiyi.com and is geared to reflect the background of rappers, give perception into the Chinese culture all while searching for the best Chinese rappers. The show did a shift to an online stage due to China’s strict media regulations which banned hip-hop culture and those connected to it from T.V.
The “Stir Fry” hitmakers will be working alongside Chinese singer Kris Wu and Chinese-American rapper MC Jin to guide and mentor contestants throughout the competition. Migos’ influence and star power is being brought in “to raise the professionalism and popularity of the program” as stated by a press release for the show. The show airs this Summer and is set to include contestants from five Chinese cities, Australia, Malaysia, and North America.
Lately, the rap trio Migos has been heating up the charts with hits such as “MotorSport” featuring Cardi B and Nicki Minaj as well as “Walk It Like I Talk It” featuring Drake. They were winners for the 2017 BET Music Awards for Best Group also Best Collaboration categories and nominated at the 60thGrammy Awards ceremony for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album. They are embarking on the upcoming North American leg of the “Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour” with Drake beginning this Summer.
